Player Profile

Position:
Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Bigger, Faster, Stronger Greg Scanlan arrived at Colorado State prior to the 2002 football season. Scanlan's charge was a simple one: Help make the student-athletes in Colorado State's program bigger, faster and stronger. He's taken that challenge and turned it into the mantra of the school's 12,000-square foot weight and strength training facility. Scanlan, a former standout college football player and award-winning scholar-athlete, works diligently with student-athletes on the proper strength-training and conditioning techniques that have provided valuable dividends individually and collectively to the entire program. For instance, he and members of his staff coordinate and conduct workouts for each of the program's sport teams. They are specifically involved throughout each workout to assist student-athletes in maximizing effort and results. Scanlan and his staff's efforts are not simply limited to strength training. They oversee stretching exercises to help prevent or rehabilitate athletic-related injuries. Additionally, they conduct cardiovascular conditioning sessions with student-athletes as part of the overall physical development. He and his staff monitor the daily, weekly and monthly progress of more than 350 student-athletes in Colorado State's program. Along the way, they develop specific training regimens that are specific to a sport program to assist student-athletes in reaching their highest level of physical potential.
